With over 17 years of public-sector experience, Fiaz is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and direction to the City of Pickering’s Economic Development & Strategic Projects Department, with the mandate to expand the City’s economic base and expand Pickering’s national and international profile by executing a comprehensive domestic/foreign investment and business retention program.
As the Director, Fiaz is also responsible for leading the government relations program for the City, and the management of major strategic projects and studies related to the development of employment lands, expanding the commercial/industrial base, major residential and non-residential growth areas, corporate-wide grant applications, naming rights and sponsorship of public assets, and urban growth expansion opportunities.
As a member of the City’s Senior Leadership Team, Fiaz provides strategic advise to the CAO, Mayor and Members of Council on a wide-range of issues and concerns that are of significance to the Corporation.
In his previous roles, Fiaz has worked with the Town of Whitby, General Motors and Durham College.
